I believe the everyday is special enough. My paintings are an invitation to look again—to notice the light, movement and quiet stories that might otherwise pass us by.

Opening during the Discover Mount View weekend of 5–6 September, Art in the Barrel Room brings together three distinctive artists: Cheryl Willcox’s expressive, light-filled oil paintings, Daniel Skeffington’s beautifully formed sculptural ceramics and Peter Mottershead’s bold, dynamic abstract paintings.

Presented within the atmospheric Barrel Room at Saddler’s Creek Wines, the exhibition creates a rich conversation between colour, form and place. The artworks will remain on display through to Sunday 13 September, offering visitors another weekend to experience the exhibition.

My Painting Process

Layered. Intuitive. Alive with movement.

I build my paintings in layers—starting with soft washes of colour, letting the image emerge intuitively through glazes, brushwork, and unexpected moments. My approach blends classical training with expressive freedom, allowing the painting to guide its own direction. Each piece is a conversation between light, memory, and the energy of the natural world.
